CARIBBEAN ART PROJECT IN NYC
El Museo del Barrio has been organizing Caribbean: Crossroads of the World, in collaboration with Queens Museum of Art and Studio Museum in Harlem since 2006. EXHIBITIONS IN SAN JUAN
At the Arsenal de la Puntilla, run by the ICP, the show Serie Regional de Jugadores Pampers (curated by Bianca Ortiz Declet, Ralph Vázquez and Abdiel Segarra) offers an encounter with Puerto Rican artists who reside or have resided lately outside of Puerto Rico. Get acquainted with the works of Christopher Rivera, Gian Carlos Silva, José Ortiz, Karla Cott, Marisol Plard, Michelle Gratacós, Miguel Toledo, Osvaldo Budet, Alejandro Epifanio, Alex Reyes, Alia Farid & Esteban Gabriel, Ángel Otero, Dialitza Colón, Eunice Soto-Relat, Vanessa Hernández Gracia and many more.
At the Liga de Arte the collective show VORTEX [CIENCIARTEFICCION] reunites artists such as Jessica Almy, Myritza Castillo, Carlos Fajardo, Teo Freytes, Teresa López, Javier Martínez, Elsa Meléndez, Mylivette Morales & Abdiel Segarra, Carmen Olmo, Marnie Pérez, Claudia Robiou, Aaron Salabarrias, Juan Carlos Torres and José Luis Vargas.

PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE FOCUS
El-status.com hopes, that many Puerto Rican artists apply for the 2010 FotoVisura grants. One is for outstanding personal projects and one for outstanding student projects. Details: fotovisura.com.
Jorge Ramos Caro, the director of the Bienal de Fotografía de Puerto Rico passed away in the middle of the preparations to the seventh Biennial. José R. Charrón, the Vice President of the event has announced that the work continues in honor of the founder. Proposals can be submitted until the 23rd of July (office of Museo de Arte Contemporáneo director Marianne Ramírez Aponte). For information please contact José R. FAS 2010 + SAN JUAN NOISE FEST + GIRATORIODEKSPRESION:
The Puerto Rican Sound Art Summit consisting of an exhibition and live performances will take place August 13 - 15, 2010 at Espacio Arana in Old San Juan. A parallel screening of sound art videos will be offert at Beta Local. Save the date and get the details!
FREEDOM (TO CREATE) PRIZE:
Finally a prize that celebrates artists and groups using their talent to promote social justice, build the foundations for an open society and inspire the human spirit! You can enter your application for the 2010 prize till August 15, 2010. There are three categories: Main, Youth and Imprisioned Artists. Freedom to Create is backed by R.F. Chandler, a Singapore-based private investment group.

JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT
AND FÉLIX GONZÁLEZ-TORRES:
The first had a Puerto Rican mother, the second grew up in Puerto Rico before moving to New York. That's why both are listed in el-status.com. Both artists died young and are currently being featured at the Fondation Beyeler in Switzerland: Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) and Félix González-Torres (1957-1996).
